Everton have joined a list of clubs linked with Japan international Keisuke Honda.
The talented midfielder has been in scintillating form for Eredivisie newcomers VVV Venlo, notching seven goals in only nine appearances this term.
A host of clubs including Liverpool, Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven have been following the player closely, but Everton are reportedly lining up a deal to lure the 23 year-old to Goodison Park in January.
According to reports in Japan, Toffees manager David Moyes is keen to bolster his midfield options having been shorn of Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta for the past seven months.
Honda's creativity and scoring prowess would make him an ideal addition to Moyes' squad, and a bid in the region of £3 million is on the cards.
Despite recently admitting he would only leave Venlo for Dutch rivals PSV, Honda may find the opportunity to work with a proven talent-nurturer like Moyes too hard to resist.
