Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Giovani dos Santos is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
The Mexican playmaker injured his ankle during Spurs' recent 5-1 Carling Cup victory at Deepdale.
The game represented a rare opportunity for the youngster to impress during a largely disappointing spell at White Hart Lane.
Having also recently shone for his country in crucial 2010 World Cup qualifiers, Dos Santos was hoping that he could start holding down a regular role under Redknapp.
The Tottenham chief admits he has been impressed by the former Barcelona ace of late and is disappointed to have seen the 20-year-old ruled out of his immediate plans.
"He is going to be out for a good few weeks unfortunately," Redknapp told the club's official website.
"He came back and was in good form and showed a good attitude and looked nice and sharp so this is a setback."
