Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has confirmed he is willing to let Gary McSheffrey head out on loan after Sheffield United enquired about the winger.
McSheffrey has made just two appearances in the Premier League this season after enjoying a loan spell at Nottingham Forest last term.
He is wanted back in the Championship again by the Blades, who are keen to sign the 27-year-old on a three-month loan deal.
McLeish feels McSheffrey would benefit from playing regular first-team football and is now waiting for the Blades to firm up their interest.
"I think there's an interest from Sheffield United for Gary, but it's not quite yet been ratified by the agents or Kevin Blackwell at United," McLeish told the club's official website.
"But there is an interest and we'll just have to wait and see what develops over the next few days.
"We would let Sheff go out because it would let him get regular football whereas when we get everybody fit just now he's more likely to be on the bench.
"It would initially be on loan to see how Sheff does, but if he goes out and does really well there's options."
