Aberdeen midfielder Davide Grassi faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his cheekbone.
Grassi sustained the injury in Tuesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat to Dundee.
The Italian is set to undergo surgery and he is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
The news is a blow for Dons boss Mark McGhee as Grassi was expected to fill in for Sonke Aluko while he is away on international duty.
Former Parma man Grassi joined Aberdeen last month after impressing on trial.
