Falkirk full-back in line for new contract

Eddie May insists he is happy Jackie McNamara is still at Falkirk and is ready to offer the veteran full-back a new contract. McNamara was a contender for the Falkirk manager's job in the summer before May was named as John Hughes' successor at the SPL club. May has not sensed any lingering disappointment from McNamara and is delighted the former Scotland international is still part of his plans. The Falkirk boss has also suggested that McNamara, who turns 36 next month, could secure a contract extension when his current deal expires at the end of the season. "A lot of people tried to make a big situation out of Neil McCann and Jackie going for the job," said May. "Jackie has been fantastic in every game he's played and he's a valuable member of the squad. So was Neil when he was here. "The two of them were very professional and I'm delighted Jackie is still here. "Jackie dictates if he plays on, what stage of life he's at and if he's still enjoying his football. He can still play to a very, very good standard and he's shown that. "We're not going to say this is his last season, you can't say that with anybody. We hope to encourage him to keep playing to that standard and it's up to us to look after him."
