Dagenham & Redbridge are set to snap up midfielder Danny Spiller.
The 28-year-old former Millwall ace is available on a free transfer.
Spiller did play for non-league Welling United at the weekend, but they will not stand in his way of a return to the Football League.
"Thankfully Dagenham have come in and I'm hoping to play for them this Saturday," said Spiller.
"I'm pleased because I was left in a difficult position trying to get a deal after being told by Kenny Jackett to come back for pre-season training.
"He said if I came back fit then I could earn a new deal at Millwall.
"For one reason or another he decided to change his mind, so effectively I was let go twice by Millwall."
Daggers boss John Still confirmed he was taking Spiller until Christmas.
"He's a very, very good player and I am taking him on a short-term contract," said manager John Still.
"He has trained well, he has a good attitude and it's a win, win situation for both parties.
"It might be on his mind that if he is playing regularly, he might get back to a higher level, and I understand that."
Still is also gearing up to offer a deal for former Hayes and Yeading midfielder Will Hendry.
"I am in talks with Will, the problem is he isn't fit at the moment, but I will speak to his advisor and that should be settled," said Still.
