Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of Jordan Stewart from Derby with Lee Hendrie going in the opposite direction.
Both players had their contracts terminated with their respective clubs to ensure that the transfer was a straight swap.
Stewart came through the ranks at Leicester before switching to Watford from where he joined the Rams in May 2008.
Despite holding down a regular place at Pride Park last year the 27-year-old failed to feature for Nigel Clough's side this term.
Meanwhile Hendrie will leave Bramall Lane after two years in which he failed to find top form thanks largely to injury and suspension.
Blades manager Kevin Blackwell was pleased with his business and highlighted that Stewart would give him options down the left side.
"Jordan can play in a number of positions down the left and gives us variety," he told the club's official website.
"I think he will prove to be a good acquisition and offers us further competition for places."
