Black Cats hit-man targeting 20 goals

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is hopeful of scoring 20 Premier League goals this season after opening his account against Blackburn. Darren Bent had been stealing much of the limelight for The Black Cats so far after scoring goals against Bolton and Chelsea following his transfer from Spurs. However, Jones was back among the goals at the weekend with a crucial brace for Steve Bruce's side as they battled back from a goal down to sink Rovers 2-1. Jones mustered 10 league goals last season and he believes he is more than capable of reaching five more this time around, although he believes he has the potential to hit 20.

Minimum target

"I want to go much better than last season and hopefully that will be at least 15 goals," he told the Sunderland Echo. "I really want to fulfil my potential and hopefully I will be able to do much more for the team - if I was being ambitious, then 20 goals would be great. "I have given myself a start but most importantly we have got six points on the board from the first three games. That was the target and it stands us in good stead."
