Colchester United midfielder David Perkins has handed in a transfer request at the club.
Perkins has asked to leave the League One club after failing to settle in the area since his move from Rochdale last summer.
Colchester chief executive Steve Bradshaw confirmed Perkins was seeking to leave the club.
"Whilst David has really appreciated the opportunity to come to Colchester United and likes playing football here, he has found it very difficult to settle in the south of England and therefore has submitted a formal transfer request," Bradshaw told the club's official website.
"David understands that any transfer would have a financial element to it, as he was bought by the football club for a six-figure fee only 12 months ago.
"He is also absolutely committed to taking every playing opportunity whilst he is here, and we all hope that David is able to settle and can commit to a long-term future at the club."
