Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has still to find a new club for the 2009/10 campaign.
The 30-year-old was released by Celtic at the end of last season after his contract expired at Parkhead.
Vennegoor of Hesselink was linked with Blackburn and Hull City, who have both spent the summer looking for attacking options, but a deal has not materialised.
FC Twente boss Steve McClaren has also been credited with an interest in the Holland international.
But Vennegoor of Hesselink believes it is too early to return to the club where he began his career.
