Andy Gray's proposed move from Charlton to Barnsley is stalling as a result of Charlton's takeover talks.
The 31-year-old striker has agreed terms with the Yorkshire club but the deal may not be concluded until the future ownership at The Valley is resolved.
Barnsley boss Simon Davey is now unsure if the move will go ahead in time as the transfer window deadline looms and he admits his frustrations.
"We're still talking to Charlton about Andy Gray but they remain under a transfer embargo until their takeover is completed," he said.
"We were expecting it to go through (on Wednesday) but again there have been more delays. Everything is agreed and we are just waiting on Charlton saying we can push it through.
"Our patience is wearing a little thin though and we are coming nearer to the end of the transfer window."
Meanwhile, the Tykes are hoping to complete the loan signing of Iceland International Emil Hallfredsson from Italian side Reggina on Friday.
