Skysports.com understands West Brom are poised to sign former Portsmouth winger Jerome Thomas.
Thomas is available on a free transfer after being released by Pompey at the end of last season and the Baggies have moved to snap him up.
The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the option for a further 12 months after passing a medical at the Hawthorns.
Thomas enjoyed trials at Hull City and Wolves earlier this summer, but West Brom have won the race for the former Charlton man's signature.
The ex-Arsenal youngster will become Roberto Di Matteo's fifth signing of the summer following the captures of Youssouf Mulumbu, Simon Cox, Reuben Reid and Joe Mattock.
