Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Sebastien Bassong from Newcastle.
As revealed by Sky Sports News earlier on Thursday Tottenham had agreed a fee in the region of £8million with Newcastle for Bassong.
Bassong has now passed a medical and agreed personal terms to tie up his switch to White Hart Lane.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was keen to add to his defensive options with Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson and Ledley King all injury doubts for the start of the new season.
The 23-year-old was one of Newcastle's best performers last season despite their relegation from the Premier League.
A number of Premier League clubs had been linked with the Frenchman, but Spurs have won the race for his signature.
Bassong is suspended for the first two games of the new campaign after being sent-off at the back end of last season against Fulham.
