Midfielder admits it was rash to ask for a move

Hartlepool United midfielder Ritchie Jones has confirmed he will be staying at Victoria Park after withdrawing his transfer request. Jones asked to leave the League One club last month after Pools had taken up a one-year option on the player's contract. Several clubs had been linked with a bid for the 22-year-old, but Jones has now decided to stay with Chris Turner's side. He concedes it was a 'rash' decision to ask for a move and he is now fully focused on helping Hartlepool in the coming campaign.

Frustration

"I just want to let people know that me putting a transfer request in was to do with off-field matters that were affecting me," Jones told the club's official website. "I think towards the end of last season things were getting to me and perhaps at times I carried that frustration on to the pitch with me. "What I did last week was a result of that and looking back I now know that it was a rash decision on my part. "I've managed to get my head round things now and I want everyone to know that I am extremely happy to be playing for Hartlepool United and I am fully committed to the club. "I'm really excited about the new season and I just want to work as hard as I can and help Hartlepool have a successful campaign in League One."
