Wolves' record signing Kevin Doyle will not be fit to start the new season.
Boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the £6.5million summer signing from Reading will not feature in the Premier League opener against West Ham.
Doyle is still recovering from a hernia operation he had at the end of last month and he is only just back in light training.
"Kevin will be training this week but probably not in full training, and that will be a big plus for us," he said.
"He might be fit for the start of the season, but I don't think it's likely he'll be fully fit. He'll be fit when he's fit.
"It's impossible for him to be at the same level as everyone else. He needs games."
