Lyon forward considering proposal

Lyon forward Fred has revealed that he is considering a proposal from Stoke City. Fred is looking to leave Stade Gerland this month and has previously expressed his desire to return to Brazil. Fluminense are keen to bring in Fred but are prepared to wait until the end of the season when his Lyon contract expires. Lyon are thought to want 5million euros (£4.5million) for Fred in the current transfer market, even though he has fallen down the pecking order under Claude Puel. Stoke have made an approach to take Fred until the end of the season and the 25-year-old is weighing up the offer as he searches for regular football. "I do not know whether I will leave Lyon in January or not yet," Fred told French newspaper Le Parisien.

Respect

"I've heard the club would like to see me leave, but it is my decision. And if a club signs me to join at the end of my contract, and to stop Lyon from making money on me, then that is my problem. "I can confirm I am considering a proposal from Stoke City. They are not Arsenal or Manchester United but they are still a good Premier League club. "And at least they have shown me more respect with their offer than (Lyon president Jean-Michel) Aulas has made me at Lyon." Stoke have already strengthened their forward line with the capture of James Beattie from Sheffield United this month. Tony Pulis is still eager to land one more striker despite already having Ricardo Fuller, Dave Kitson, Mamady Sidibe and Richard Cresswell at his disposal.
