Boss targets new faces but content to stick with players

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray is busy trying to bring in players during the transfer window - but admits he is "happy enough" with his squad. The Baggies gave themselves a survival lifeline over the festive period, winning two of three Premier League games to close the gap on their relegation rivals. Mowbray has already signed Arsenal striker Jay Simpson on loan until the end of the season and is busy searching for more new recruits. But he insists he is 'not losing sleep' over any possible deals, and would be happy with his current pool of players if no-one else comes in. Albion are in talks to sign French striker Marc-Antoine Fortune on loan from AS Nancy Lorraine, with the 27-year-old's agent Mikael Manuelo saying: "There's an interest from both parties, negotiations are under way, but I have no idea whether the ending will be happy or not." And they have also been linked with Portugal striker Ariza Makukula, Reading hitman Leroy Lita and Aston Villa's Marlon Harewood. But Mowbray feels his troops have given themselves a "real chance" of staying in the top tier, and said: "I am happy enough with the players I have and I think they have worked extremely hard over the first half of the season. They have been a credit to the club in the way they have played.

Chance

"We have given ourselves a real chance of staying in the division, and then hopefully build with players we identify as long-term signings. "We will try and bring them in at the right time and for the right price." He added in the Birmingham Post: "In an ideal world you identify players that you really like and you want them as part of your squad, then you go and get them. "We are not in a position to do that. We ask clubs to try and take a few players on loan and if they come off then great, if not we move on. "I enjoy our team and I like sending us out to try and win football matches, and if we can add a couple of faces to help the competition then great. If we can't, so be it." One player no longer in Mowbray's plans is Dutch defender Ryan Donk. The centre-back moved to The Hawthorns on loan from AZ Alkmaar in the summer but has been sent back to Holland after failing to impress.
