Eagles keen to take teenage striker

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has admitted making an approach to Chelsea regarding Ben Sahar. The Eagles chief is desperate to bolster his firepower, with his inconsistent side managing just 20 goals in 17 Championship games this term. He has identified Israel international Sahar as a possible option, having been impressed by the youngster's credentials in the past. The 19-year-old is currently on a six-month loan deal at Portsmouth, but has failed to make an impact on the South Coast and will be sent back to Stamford Bridge in January. Warnock is well aware that the teenager will struggle to force his way into Luiz Felipe Scolari's first-team plans upon his return, and is weighing up a New Year swoop for his services. "We know Sahar is not playing at Portsmouth, he is someone we've asked about," he told the Croydon Advertiser. Sahar has prior experience of life in the Championship after spending time on loan at Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday in the past.
