Defender cautious of Potters threat

Wigan defender Mario Melchiot has spoken of his admiration for Rory Delap ahead of the Latics' clash with Stoke at the weekend. Melchiot says he has never seen a throw quite like the one produced by Delap during the Potters' impressive 2-1 win over Arsenal. Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash at the JJB, Melchiot told Sky Sports News: "My throw is strong but I don't think there's anyone in the league that can throw like him." "It was one hell of a throw in (against Arsenal), I've seen it a couple of times. "It is a great weapon he has," he added. "We have to make sure we are prepared and ready for it."

Punsihment

Delap's throwing power is becoming a highly talked-about subject amongst the players, with Everton, Aston Villa and Portsmouth all conceding a goal against the Premier League new boys in a simlar fashion. But Melchiot insists that Wigan can avoid a similar punishment providing they concentrate on their game. "It's easier said than done, they're a big side," he added. "We must be clever to their ways."
