Ritchie shines with treble

A youthful Portsmouth side warmed up for the new season with a 4-1 win over Gosport Borough. Matt Ritchie was the hero for Harry Redknapp's side with a hat-trick as the FA Cup holders ended their pre-season preparations with a comfortable win. The likes of John Utaka, Lauren, Ben Sahar, Arnold Mvuemba and Jamie Ashdown all featured for Pompey, but it was Ritchie who stole the show. Pompey missed a great chance to break the deadlock after just ten minutes when Sahar was felled in the box, but the Chelsea striker saw his penalty saved by Gosport keeper Mark Brown. The visitors opened the scoing a minute before the break when Ritchie's deflected shot found the net, but Gosport hit back almost immediately with Nathan Lynch netting. Sahar made amends for his penalty miss early in the second half when he latched onto Utaka's pass to score. Ritchie grabbed two more goals in six minutes to complete his hat-trick.
