Dutch side dismiss move for Blackburn defender
PSV Eindhoven have ruled out making a bid for Blackburn defender Andre Ooijer.
The Blackburn defender has been the subject of interest from Holland with Feyenoord and PSV confirming their interest in the 33-year-old Dutch international.
Technical manager Stan Valckx admitted the Dutch giants had considered a move for Ooijer, who moved to Ewood Park on a two-year deal from PSV in the summer of 2006.
Option
But Valckx said although Ooijer had been regarded as an option his age and injury problems had prompted the Eredivisie side to look elsewhere.
Valckx told
Elf Voetbal: "In the last seven years he has missed one third of the season due to injuries. Beside that we are looking for someone with an eye on the future."
Ooijer has been a mainstay of the Rovers defence this season but suffered a hamstring injury in the recent 1-0 home defeat to West Ham and will be sidelined for five weeks.
Meanwhile, PSV have also confirmed that they are happy to allow Edison Mendez to leave the Philips Stadion at the right price.
Compensation
The 28-year-old is keen to return to Ecuador to be with his sick mother and Valckx said the club would allow the midfielder to return home permanently if they could secure a suitable compensation package.
A leading club from Ecuador have already held talks with PSV about a move, while Barcelona are also believed to be interested in international.
Ismail Aissati has also confirmed that PSV have indicated their desire to extend his current deal until 2013.
Linked
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Ajax, but after talks with the club Aissati says he's happy to extend his stay.
"From our initial talks it appears they would like to keep me," the 19-year-old told
Dagblad.
"That is an important signal to me so I am very happy."
