Spireites missing Lester

Image: Lester: Aims to play again soon

Lee Richardson insists he will not press Jack Lester into playing until the striker is '100 per cent ready'.

But manager won't gamble with top scorer's fitness

Lee Richardson insists he will not press Chesterfield's top scorer Jack Lester into playing until he is '100 per cent ready'. Lester has not featured in the club's last two games due to an ankle injury, although he was on the bench for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bradford City. Chesterfield boss Richardson acknowledges the striker is being missed, but he does not want to take any risks with Lester's fitness. "I think that any team in this division would miss a player of Jack's quality," said Richardson. "He is a proven goalscorer and he carries a real threat. "He had scored six goals in his last four games prior to his injury and you will obviously miss that kind of contribution. "But he will not play until he is 100% ready to return. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later."
