Siena have completed the signing of Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone.The 27-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year contract with the Tuscan outfit.
Boro released Maccarone on a free transfer, which represents a huge loss for the club given he is their club record signing after he arrived from Empoli for £8.15million in 2002.
Maccarone largely under-achieved during his time in England, although he will be fondly remembered by the Boro faithful for his role in helping them to the Uefa Cup final when he scored last-minute winners in both their quarter and semi-final ties.
