Boston United have made former Sunderland midfielder Richie Ryan their eighth summer signing.
The 21-year-old joins the League Two club following his release from Scunthorpe United, having spent time on trial at League One side Port Vale.
Ryan has opted to drop a division and join the new-look Pilgrims, as manager Steve Evans looks to make a serious challenge in League Two next term.
"Richie is an excellent young player and someone who I tried to sign last season on loan," Evans told the club's official website.
"He has been highly sought after and I'm delighted to have him on board.
"I believe that he is a midfield player of immense promise and I'm looking forward to working with him."
