Middlesbrough defender George Friend has insisted he is going nowhere after being linked with a move to the Barclays Premier League.

The 27-year-old full-back is interesting several top-flight clubs with West Brom having reportedly had a £3million bid turned down, but he is focussing purely on his current club.

Friend told the club's official website: "I'm not going anywhere, I love it at Middlesbrough.

"I haven't seen a lot of the speculation, but you do hear things, and it's a compliment really. I think any player likes interest because it means you've done something right.

"But I'm really happy at the Boro and I can't wait to start again on Monday for what we hope will be a successful season. I'll be giving it my all every game and I can't wait to get going again."
