Danny Ings has revealed his happiness at his move to Liverpool after the Anfield club agreed to sign him on July 1.

It was announced on Monday that the England U21 international would be heading to Merseyside once his contract with Burnley expired at the end of the month.

Ings scored 11 goals in 35 appearances in his maiden season in the Premier League and following Burnley’s relegation, his departure was inevitable.

The 22-year-old used social media to thank the Turf Moor club on Tuesday night before outlining his excitement in moving to the Reds.

He tweeted: "Thanks to Burnley for four brilliant years. The fans backed me every step of the way, I will never forget that. Good luck always".

"Thanks for your messages. Delighted to be joining Liverpool FC - a special club with great players. I will give everything to be successful."

Ings became Liverpool's second summer signing after James Milner joined from Manchester City.

With Liverpool stuttering to sixth place in the Premier League last season, manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping Ings can help add firepower upfront with Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge only scoring eight league goals between them.

Ings joined Burnley from Bournemouth four years ago for £1m after and scored 43 goals in 130 games for the club.
