Preston North End have signed striker Jermaine Beckford on a two-year contract.

Beckford will officially become a North End player after his contract expires with Bolton Wanderers on June 30.

He first joined Preston last November on loan and proved a huge hit, helping the side to promotion, scoring a hat-trick in the play-off final at Wembley to secure their place in the Championship.

Beckford scored 18 goals for the club in total, with six of them coming in the play-offs.

Beckford said: "The management are a big reason, we have just a good understanding and relationship and it was a no-brainer really.

"I had a great time last season and everybody here, the staff, players, have just been amazing with me and it's somewhere that feels like home."

And Beckdord believes North End can thrive in the Championship next season.

"My aim is to get as high up the league as possible, hopefully push for promotion but first and foremost it's about making sure that we do things right, like we did last year,” he said.

"Last season was a great season for us and for me I just want to make sure I give everything that I can and do the best that I can do."
