Kenwyne Jones' loan departure from Cardiff was a 'business' decision, according to Bluebirds boss Russell Slade.

The 13-goal forward joined Bournemouth's promotion push on Thursday on a similar deal to the one that let Matthew Connolly join fellow promotion hopefuls Watford last week.

And Slade, whose side are marooned in mid-table, explained why they let the former Sunderland man head to the Cherries.

"Similar to the Connolly deal. It's a financial decision really," he told Wales Online.

"We are not going up or down at this stage so in financial terms, it made sense for us.

"It is not a footballing decision but I would like to wish Kenwyne all the very best until the end of the season at Bournemouth."
