Michael Chopra has fired a parting shot at his old club Blackpool by insisting part-time Scottish Championship side Alloa are better than the Seasiders.

The ex-Newcastle and Sunderland forward moved to the Wasps this week having last played on these shores for Blackpool in a spell last season.

Chopra was critical of the beleaguered Lancashire club's training conditions - and earned himself a club-imposed fine for a Twitter rant while at Bloomfield Road - and he has stuck the knife in again when discussing his new employers.

"Honestly, I played for Blackpool - admittedly during some hard times for that club - but this Alloa team is better than that Blackpool one," he told various Scottish newspapers.

"And here at least you know the guys will give 100 per cent. You know you will get a shift from the guy next to you and that's not always been the case elsewhere."

Blackpool are a whopping 18 points from safety in the Sky Bet Championship and their relegation could be confirmed this month.
