Port Vale's on-loan teenager Ryan Inniss has returned to parent club Crystal Palace after injuring his ankle at the weekend.

Inniss was forced out of Saturday's win at Coventry following a challenge with striker Marcus Tudgay and although X-rays later confirmed there was no fracture, the 19-year-old defender will be assessed by Palace's medical staff. Vale manager Rob Page told the club's official website: "We're really disappointed, not only because he has been forced to return to his parent club but for Ryan as a player and as a person. "He has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived and has played extremely well for us. It's a shame as we had almost finalised a deal to extend his stay at the club. "Everyone at the club would like to thank him for his contribution and wishes him a speedy recovery." Inniss made five appearances for Vale since arriving on February 12 on an initial one-month youth loan.
