Middlesbrough goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos has penned a new contract until the summer of 2016.

The 36-year-old, who has made 29 appearances and been an integral part of Boro's promotion push this campaign, was out of contract in the summer having signed a 12-month deal last year.

But he has been rewarded for keeping 14 clean sheets by getting a new contract.

Boss Aitor Karanka told the club's official website: "It's great news for everyone. Dimi is the kind of player you want in your squad.

"He was the third goalkeeper in the squad when we came here, and now he is number one. He has done really well.

"He brings experience to the dressing room and he is a very important member of our squad on and off the pitch."
