Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has moved to dispel speculation linking him with a move away from the club, insisting his future remains in the French capital.

The Uruguay international moved to the Ligue 1 champions from Napoli in July 2013 for a fee believed to be in the region of 64million euros.

Edinson Cavani says he's happy at Paris Saint-Germain and is excited about the future of the club

Last summer, it was reported Cavani had instructed his agent to investigate a potential move to the Premier League.

However he appears to have had a change of heart, maintaining he wants to remain in France for the foreseeable future.

"Today I'm great here in Paris," he said. "My family and I are happy and every time they come and watch me play, they enjoy.

I’ve always said I’m very happy being here. We have a great team. There is a nice project backing the club and I’m finding my way in Paris. I want to give them the best and repay the confidence the president placed in me when he signed me.

Understandably, speculation surrounding the Uruguayan has continued to intensify until this latest revelation, with Manchester United and Chelsea put on alert after the rumours last summer.

Six months on, Cavani has sought to put suggestions of a move away behind him and has chosen to focus on propelling PSG to greater success.

“I’ve always said I’m very happy being here, it’s a club that’s growing and it’s a very nice and attractive project and it always makes you happy to be part of this,” he added.

“Sincerely, like I’ve said many times one thing that fills me with pleasure is finishing a match and going to bed peacefully knowing I’ve contributed with my best for the team.

"Many times you can’t score goals and the important thing is knowing that you gave your best for your team-mates and having the intention to make things happen the best way possible for PSG.”
