Kevin Doyle is still in talks with Colorado Rapids, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed.

The striker is on the verge of leaving Molineux on a free transfer after flying to America to hold discussions with the MLS club.

Republic of Ireland international Doyle returned on Thursday and has trained with Wolves but is not in Jackett's plans.

"He has been in talks with Colorado and has been out there to speak to them over the last couple of days," he said.

"He trained on Thursday with us and talks are ongoing between the clubs, the player and his agent.

"Everyone will want the best for themselves and finding some common ground between the three is what's going on at the moment.

"If he goes it will be a permanent deal."

Doyle has been on loan at QPR and also spent time at Crystal Palace this season after falling out of favour under Jackett.

He signed for Wolves for £6.5million from Reading in 2009 and has scored 33 goals in 173 appearances but has not played for the club for over a year.
