Ryan Allsop will return to Bournemouth to earn a new deal after the end of his loan at Coventry.

The goalkeeper's six-month deal expired after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Gillingham and he will head back to fight for his future at the Cherries. He moved to the Ricoh on loan as part of the deal which took Callum Wilson to the Championship leaders Bournemouth in the summer. Mohamed Coulibaly returned early after failing to settle while fellow Bournemouth loanee Josh McQuoid is already back on the south coast having treatment on an Achilles injury but his loan will not be renewed. And Allsop, who played 27 games for the Sky Blues, believes it is the right time to leave. He told the Coventry Telegraph: "I think it has been good for me to play games at Coventry, to help me progress. "Obviously I am still a young goalkeeper and still learning the game but at the same time I think I need to go back to Bournemouth and try to progress there. "They are doing really well at the moment and I think I need to get in under the manager's nose there and try to show him what I can do. I am out of contract in the summer so I've got six months left to show him how I have progressed. "I spoke to Steve Ogrizovic and numerous people to get their advice about what's the best thing for me to do. It's been a tough decision and I haven't made it lightly, but I think it's the best thing for me at this moment in time."
