Cardiff boss Russell Slade has ruled out selling David Marshall this month - but the goalkeeper could face a spell on the sidelines.
Slade revealed the Scot, who missed their 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, has been struggling with an ankle problem.
Slade told Wales Online: "David pulled out of training on Friday with a recurrence of an ankle problem.
"He had a similar problem a week or two ago.
"Even when the ankle was strapped he was struggling to kick the ball. That was the biggest problem."
Marshall, 29, continues to be linked with Everton along with a string of other top-flight clubs but Slade dampened the transfer speculation.
He added: "We all know we have a very talented goalkeeper. Is he going to attract interest from the Premier League? Of course he is. Are we interested in letting him go? Of course we are not."
