Charlton have extended Oguchi Onyewu's contract until the end of the season.

The United States centre-half signed a short-term deal with the Championship club in October when Michael Morrison left to join Birmingham on loan.

That loan will become a permanent move when the transfer window opens, and Charlton will now keep Onyewu until June 1.

The 32-year-old, whose previous clubs include Newcastle and Milan, has made just two substitute appearances to date.
