Premier League: Swansea captain Ashley Williams eyes win over Liverpool

Swansea skipper Ashley Williams insists there will be no margin for error for Swansea if they are to come away from their visit to Liverpool on Monday with a victory.

Garry Monk’s side will be full of confidence for their trip to Anfield after recording 1-0 wins in their last two games, against Hull and Aston Villa respectively.

Liverpool beat Swansea 4-3 in the corresponding fixture last term but Williams is confident his side can make it three league wins in a row if they can get their performance right.

“We feel we can go anywhere and win,” Williams said. “But we know we have to perform right on the day because the teams in this league are so good that if you are off it a little bit they’ll punish you.

“It is going to be very tough. We know we have to be at our best to beat Liverpool especially at Anfield.”

The match sees Williams come up against former Swansea boss Rodgers and the Welshman believes fans could be in for a treat as both sides like to play attractive football.

“It’s always a big game when Swansea play Liverpool,” he said. “It should be a nice game to watch with two teams that are comfortable on the ball and want to play the proper way so we’ll see how it goes.

“We know it’s going to be difficult. Playing against a Brendan Rodgers side is always a tough thing but we’ll have our plan and try and recover properly over the next couple of days and go and try and win the game.”

Meanwhile, Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero looks set to miss Monday’s game after suffering a suspected hamstring injury in the Boxing Day win against Aston Villa.
