Rotherham defender Richard Brindley has joined Scunthorpe on an emergency loan deal until the New Year.

The 21-year-old full-back, who has made three first-team appearances for the Millers this season, will stay at Glanford Park until January 3. "Richard is a young player that is very much part of my plan at Rotherham United," Millers boss Steve Evans told Rotherham's official website. "But by his own admission he now needs a run of games to allow him the opportunity to compete for a place. "He joins a good manager in Mark Robins at a very ambitious club in Scunthorpe United and we will be tracking his progress closely through to the January period." Brindley was released by hometown club Norwich in 2012 and after a spell at Chelmsford joined Chesterfield in January 2013. He made 12 appearances for Chesterfield before joining Rotherham on a free transfer the following May.
