Capital One Cup: Tottenham's in-form Harry Kane hungry for more goals after strike against Brighton

Harry Kane is hungry for more goals after netting his eighth of the season in Tottenham’s 2-0 Capital One Cup win over Brighton.

The 21-year-old enhanced his reputation with a 74th minute strike as Spurs set-up a quarter-final clash with Premier League rivals Newcastle on Wednesday night.

After scoring a Europa League hat-trick last week against Asteras Tripolis, Kane admitted he was delighted to be able to keep the goals flowing against the Seagulls at White Hart Lane.

"I'm always happy to be scoring and getting those goals inside the box, those strikers' goals, is always good,” Kane said.

"It (the number of goals) is a good return but I'm concentrating on the next game now and hopefully I will get some minutes and get some goals.

"These are the sort of games I want to be scoring in and getting myself out there, I always enjoy playing - I just want to keep playing and keep scoring."

Fellow Spurs strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado have scored just four goals between them this season (two apiece) which is half of Kane’s tally.

Despite the youngster's good form, manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted the England U21 international will have to continue to be patient as he waits for his first league start of the season.

"He shares with another striker like Adebayor or Soldado the minutes in the official games," Pochettino said.

"We need to understand that we are in different competitions. You demand me to play Harry Kane in every game - he played today.

“Soldado and Harry Kane are different players. We are in a lot of competitions."

Tottenham travel to Villa Park on Sunday to take on Aston Villa and that game is live on Sky Sports 1HD, with coverage beginning at 3.30pm.
