Niall McGinn says he is enjoying playing alongside Kyle Lafferty and hopes Northern Ireland will continue to benefit from their growing partnership up front.

The pair dovetailed to decisive effect in the closing stages of the opening European Qualifier in Hungary last month, setting each other up for goals to turn a 1-0 deficit into a dramatic 2-1 victory for the Irish.

I really enjoy the partnership I have with Kyle. He is a massive player for us and he can make chances out of nothing.

McGinn came off the bench as a second-half substitute in Budapest but did more than enough to earn a start when the Faroe Islands visit Windsor Park on Saturday.

And, having scored his only other international goal from a Lafferty assist against Portugal, he is keen to link up with the Norwich striker again.

"I really enjoy the partnership I have with Kyle. He is a massive player for us and he can make chances out of nothing," said the Aberdeen forward.

"I know I have to get close to him to pick up the ball but I find it enjoyable - especially in Budapest.

"Kyle is a talented boy and he knows he will be vital for us in this campaign.

"It is a hard shift for him at times, playing up front on his own, but he really takes the pressure off the rest of the lads.

"And when he wins things, it can give the likes of me a chance to get in behind teams to punish them.

"I was delighted to get on in Hungary and help the team come from behind to win.

"Scoring the equaliser and then setting up Kyle for the winner was special."
