German midfielder Robert Tesche has excited Stuart Pearce since arriving from Hamburg in August and the Nottingham Forest boss sang his praises after he scored in the dramatic 2-2 draw with Ipswich.

Tesche, 27, played over 80 games for Hamburg in a five-year spell with the club, but also featured for their second team in the fourth tier of German football last season and Pearce has been delighted with the quick progress made by the Wismar-born star, who has started the last five league games.

Pearce said: "I am very impressed with him as a man and his agent as well, I have to say.

"Agents get a lot of bad press in football. When they came to the club, the agent said 'he would be in your team in a couple of weeks, no problem, my player will be in the team'. The player has done exactly that.

"He's come from the Bundesliga and has had no experience of English football, but he's got with the pace of the league very quickly. "

Pearce added: "His form in training has been outstanding. He was sat out, he was patient and he never opened his mouth. The opportunity came and he took it and I think he was the best player on the pitch for the last two games."
