West Brom striker Saido Berahino admits he can understand the frustration from fans after a winless start to the season, but has urged them not to panic.

The Baggies have mustered just two points from their opening four Premier League games and sections of the Hawthorns vented their disapproval during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Everton.

Alan Irvine’s only win so far since taking charge this summer came in a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw with League Two side Oxford United in the Capital One Cup.

But Berahino is not reading too much into their early form and has reassured fans he and his team-mates will be doing everything they can to bring about a change of fortunes.

"I understand fans’ disappointment. That’s football, but it’s too early to panic," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinions but we are still together.

"We know what we have to do going into the next game (away to Tottenham), we are staying as a team and will ensure it doesn’t happen again.

"Nobody likes to lose the way we did on Saturday, we conceded soft goals.

"At the end of the day it’s about getting the points on the board and we haven’t won a game yet.

"We are trying to stay together and I am trying to do the best I can to ensure we start getting some points on the board."

West Brom have failed to score a league goal since the opening day of the season, while they have shipped five goals in their last two games.

Asked how they can turn things around, Berahino said: "I think we need to work hard at the training ground and learn how to punish teams.

"Especially defending, we give ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding soft goals. We are in this together, we know we need to stop giving away soft goals.

"Once we can get rid of conceding soft goals it gives us a chance to go forward and win the game.

"We are all working towards that, we are all trying to gel and become a strong team to beat.

"We are working hard to become a good team going forward and also a team that scores lots of goals.

"That’s what we do at the training ground we make sure that we stay together and not let anything get between us."
