Werder Bremen midfielder Ludovic Obraniak has said that he wants to leave and has revealed that Sunderland and West Ham United were interested in him.

The 29-year-old moved to the German club from Bordeaux in January 2014 on a contract that runs until June 2016.

However, the Poland international has struggled for playing time at Bremen and was in talks with Premier League sides Sunderland and West Ham in the summer.

With the transfer window now closed, Obraniak will have to wait until January to leave the Weserstadion - something that he is prepared to do.

"Sunderland and West Ham United had been in touch, but we could not find an agreement over a transfer,” he told BILD.

"I don't think that it is a problem to admit I want to move away (from Werder Bremen). This is not a mistake. It's just the way I am, it's my character. I like to point things out.

“My ambition is to play in Euro 2016 for Poland, therefore I need to play regular matches. It's just reasonable to move clubs because of that."
