Bolton have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan on a three-month loan, reuniting him with Dougie Freedman.

Former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Garvan, now 26, helped the Eagles win promotion to the Premier League in 2012/13 but made only two appearances in the top tier and finished last season on loan with Millwall.

Garvan, who has played once for Palace this season in the Capital One Cup, is set to make his Trotters debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship clash at the Macron Stadium on Saturday.

The Dubliner left his homeland to sign for Ipswich in November 2004 and helped Town win the FA Youth Cup in his first season at Portman Road.

He established himself as a first-team regular with the Tractor Boys until he fell out of favour under Roy Keane and was sold to Palace for £250,000 in August 2010.

Garvan impressed under Freedman and then Ian Holloway and after Palace's Wembley victory over Watford in the play-off final in May 2013, he penned a two-year contract extension at Selhurst Park.
