Derby are hopeful that midfielder Jeff Hendrick will be back from injury by the start of October.

Hendrick suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Sky Bet Championship draw with Ipswich at the iPro Stadium on 30 August but the 22-year-old is making good progress in his recovery and could be involved against Millwall on 4 October.

"Jeff is getting a good range of movement in his shoulder," first-team coach Paul Simpson told local media.

"He has still got a bit of discomfort in the area around the shoulder, which he is bound to have, and we are looking at a four-week plan to get him back involved with us.

"That probably won't be any time this month but we are hopeful he might be available for the first game of next month if everything goes according to the rehabilitation plan the medical department have given him."

Meanwhile, Derby are waiting to see if Jamie Ward will be fit for the clash against rivals Nottingham Forest on Sunday - live on Sky Sports.

Ward suffered a hamstring injury at the weekend while on international duty with Northern Ireland and the Rams are awaiting the results of a scan.

Simpson said: "We are hoping it is more of a nerve issue with the hamstring than a strain.

"If it is just a nerve issue there is a possibility he could be fit for the weekend but, until we get the results, we cannot make any assumptions on whether or not he will be fit for the Forest game.

"The injury is something Jamie has had before and something we know we have to manage. He felt it in the Ireland game, but he is hopeful and confident it is not too serious."
