Transfer News: Celtic loan signing John Guidetti was wanted by other clubs

John Guidetti is looking forward to the chance to prove himself at Celtic after claiming he received interest from several clubs across Europe.

The Sweden international joined Celtic on loan from Manchester City last week after FIFA granted special dispensation for the deal to be confirmed.

Guidetti, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord in 2011/12, has seen injuries and illness prevent him from making an impact at City.

However, that has not stopped interest from a host of clubs and the 22-year-old is now eager to impress at Scottish champions Celtic.

“I am happy I’ll now have the chance to show what I can do in Scotland,” Guidetti told Heja Sverige.

“AIK Stockholm made an approach for me in August, but then Celtic asked for me, as did Olympiakos, Ajax, Fiorentina and Palermo.

“AIK are perhaps the biggest club in Sweden but with all due respect to them they aren’t as big as those other clubs."

He added: “I haven’t been sitting on the bench at Manchester City because I have wanted to.

“People say I’m cocky and aggressive on the pitch. But I play my best game when I am like this. I am this way even when I play football with my friends.”
