Robert Tesche admits he has already given thought to extending his one-year contract at Nottingham Forest.

The German midfielder penned a 12-month deal at the City Ground after severing ties with Hamburg and dropping into the free agent pool.

The 27-year-old has been eased into English football by Stuart Pearce, but has impressed when given competitive minutes.

Tesche is enjoying being part of a successful side and hopes fresh terms will be tabled if he and Forest can continue to deliver in the Sky Bet Championship.

He said in the Nottingham Post: "I have only signed a one year contract but it is already in my head that I would like to stay longer.

"I would like a longer deal, but my first step is to acclimatise here, then we can see what happens beyond that.

"The reason it was one year was to give the club a chance to look at me and I can see if the move works for me. For both sides, it is a good option."

Tesche has helped Forest to make an unbeaten start to the 2014/15 campaign and says he has seen enough to suggest that Pearce’s men will be pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.

He added: "We have played five games in the league, you can see, is a strong one; it is a long season.

"But we have a strong squad and I think we can make the step up to the Premier League.

"We are only five games into the season and it will not be easy. But we do have the quality."
