Partick Thistle have signed former Liverpool striker Nathan Eccleston until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old arrives at the Scottish Premiership club as a free agent after he was released by Blackpool at the end of last season.

Eccleston will bring some experience to Alan Archibald’s squad having spent time on loan at Huddersfield, Charlton, Rochdale, Tranmere, Carlisle and Coventry in the past five years.

A statement from Partick read: “We are happy to confirm that the manager has been successful in his stated aim of adding to his squad - signing striker Nathan Eccleston.

“Nathan started his playing career with Bury but was recruited by Liverpool when he was just 15 years old.

“Eccelston made his first team debut for Liverpool as a late substitute in a Carling Cup tie away to Arsenal in October 2009 and made his Premiership debut against Fulham later that month.

“Understandably competition for first team places at Anfield was high and in total Nathan made nine first team appearances, five in Liverpool’s Europa League campaign in season 2010-2011.

”We wish Nathan well in his time as a Partick Thistle player. He is however no stranger to Firhill having featured, and scored, in the Liverpool side that supplied the opposition for Alan Archibald’s testimonial match in August 2009.”
