Charlton Athletic boss Bob Peeters hopes there is still a deal to be done for Andy Delort as he pursues further fresh faces.

Tours striker Delort has agreed a five-year deal at The Valley but has seen Charlton struggle to reach an agreement with his current employers.

That remains the situation at present, with deadlock in talks preventing either side from moving forward.

Peeters is, however, optimistic that a transfer can be pushed through before the summer window closes.

We are still looking for players because you need a big squad in the Championship as there are going to be a lot of games.

He said: “It’s good that he wants to play for Charlton. I love players who want to come and play for us.

“I let players go who don’t want to be here anymore, I only want dedicated players and players who want to come here and join us.

“Andy Delort is an interesting player but at this moment he is still playing for Tours.

“I think something between the two clubs (is being discussed).

“I hear a lot of rumours, but then again everyday another team comes in to sign him.

“At the moment, there is no signing.”

Delort is one of a number of players Peeters is hoping to welcome into his ranks before September 1.

He added: “We are still looking for players because you need a big squad in the Championship as there are going to be a lot of games.

“We only want to bring players who can fit into Charlton and be 100 per cent ready to play here.

“There’s still until August 31. We have the time and we will see what time will bring.”
