New Nottingham Forest signing Michail Antonio believes he has joined a club capable of winning promotion to the Premier League.

Antonio moved to the City Ground this week from Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Stuart Pearce's team.

The 24-year-old winger says the Reds boss quickly convinced him of the club's ambitions.

"He (Pearce) said that the players he wants to bring in, along with the players he has here, are going to be good enough to get into the Premier League. More than that, he believes the club can stay in the Premier League.

"This club has a lot of history, but it is also the fact that every year they seem to be in and around the play-off places. They have high hopes of wanting to get into the Premier League and that is the goal I have always wanted to achieve myself.

"It is a big club, with a big fanbase, just like Sheffield Wednesday. Right now, though, Forest feel a bit closer to getting into the top flight, particularly when you look at the situation at Wednesday.

"The takeover doesn't seem to be going through there, the players and manager don't seem to know what is happening there. So I wanted to come to a club with more stability."
